20/2 Wool Yarn

20/2 Wool Yarn is a double-ply worsted wool yarn. This yarn is made from high-quality Merino Wool or Australian Wool as raw materials. It undergoes processes such as carding, spinning, plaiting, twisting, and shaping. The fiber fineness usually ranges from 21 to 24 μm. It is soft, skin-friendly, and has good elasticity recovery.
20/2 is a classic specification for hand-knitted yarn and woven yarn - it is of moderate thickness, neither as thick as thick-spun yarn nor as prone to breakage as fine-spun yarn. It is suitable for various knitting techniques and weaving densities. The regular packaging is hank or cone. The dyeing methods include natural/raw white, stock dyed, or hank dyed. The color fastness can reach above grade 4 (ISO 105), meeting the environmental protection and safety standards for export to Europe and America.

Gold count, balanced thickness: Nm 20/2 is the "universal count" for hand weaving and machine weaving - it is thicker than 28/2 and finer than 12/2. It can be used singly or in combination, and one strand can handle various patterns such as plain stitch, twisted stitch, and openwork.
Double-strand structure, high strength and not prone to breakage: Two single yarns are twisted in opposite directions to form a double strand. The yarns are smooth and uniform in texture, and their tensile strength is approximately 40% higher than that of single yarns of the same count. During weaving, the breakage rate is low, making it suitable for high-speed computer looms or long-term hand weaving.
Natural wool, warm and breathable: Merino wool fibers are naturally curly, which can trap a layer of static air, providing better warmth than cotton and synthetic fibers. At the same time, it absorbs moisture and wicks away sweat, making it comfortable to wear close to the skin without causing excessive sweating in autumn and winter.
Soft texture, not irritating to the skin: The fiber fineness is ≤ 24 μm, reaching the "skin-friendly" standard. It can be directly in contact with sensitive areas such as the neck and wrists, without the need for additional lining.

Hand Knitting: 20/2 is one of the most commonly used specifications by hand-knitting enthusiasts in Europe and America. It is suitable for knitting sweaters, cardigans, shawls, scarves, hats, gloves, baby clothes. Single-strand knitting can achieve a lightweight texture (suggested 2.5–3.5 mm knitting needles), while double-strand or triple-strand knitting can achieve a thicker texture (suggested 4–5 mm knitting needles).
Machine Knitting: Suitable for home Brother/Silver笛 type flat knitting machines and industrial computer flat knitting machines (such as Isen, Stoll). The yarn tension is stable and it is not prone to shedding, making it suitable for mass production of knitted clothing, socks, hair bands, etc.
Weaving： Used as warp or weft yarn, it is used to weave wool scarves, shawls, suit fabrics, home soft furnishings (pillows, blankets), and the warp and weft density can be adjusted according to the fabric weight.
