300 Denier Polyester Yarn

300 Denier (300D) polyester yarn is a medium-thickness synthetic filament. "Denier" is a unit used to measure the fineness of yarn, defined as the weight in grams of 9000 meters of the yarn. Therefore, 300D means that 9000 meters of this yarn weighs 300 grams. For comparison, a human hair is approximately 20-30D in thickness, standard sewing thread is about 100-150D, and a 300D thickness is roughly equivalent to the thickness of a thin mobile phone charging cable.

The strength-to-weight ratio of the different material: 300D polyester provides sufficient strength while maintaining a relatively light weight. Its breaking strength is usually between 3.8-4.5 cN/tex, and the breaking strength of a single yarn is approximately 11-13 kilograms. This makes it excellent for applications that require durability but are not overly heavy.
Ideal balance of rigidity and flexibility: Compared to thicker 600D or 1000D yarns, 300D is easier to bend and has good flexibility. This characteristic makes it highly suitable for weaving into narrow fabrics or for use in coating base fabrics that require a certain degree of flexibility, such as foldable backpacks.
Outstanding durability and functionality: Polyester fibers themselves have high strength, high elastic modulus, excellent recovery elasticity, heat resistance, light resistance, corrosion resistance, and easy washability and quick drying. The 300D specification further brings good wear resistance, anti-torsion performance, and coverage. The resulting fabric is thick and full.
High cost-effectiveness: As a medium-sized yarn, 300D achieves a good balance between cost and performance. According to mid-2026 market information, the price of 300D/96F FDY (AA grade, FOB price in China) is approximately $0.98-1.08 per kilogram, offering a cost advantage over finer yarns (such as 75D).
